Mark is a sailmaker. He started as an apprentice with Kemp Sails in 1990 and has since worked in many top commercial sail lofts on the South Coast. His work has ranged from cruising sails for 60ft Clipper yachts to working with the British sailing team during the 2012 Olympics.
Since 2019 he has taught sailmaking at the Boat Building Academy in Lyme Regis and developed a passion for the traditional techniques of sailmaking. Mark is now a freelance sailmaker giving him the opportunity to work on sails for a wide range of craft. His recent work includes sails for Ratsey and Lapthorn, Cowes Classic Boat Museum and Willow Bay Boats as well as a pair of racing spinnakers for the Andrew Cassell Foundation.
