The Boat Building Academy trains people to work as boatbuilders in construction types ranging through traditional clinker, modern wood and composites on courses running from 1 day to 40 weeks.
The training programme is constructed to give students hands-on experience of building, restoration and maintenance, with an in-depth understanding of boat construction. People join courses for a range of reasons - among them taking a hobby to a new level, to work in the marine industry, or a treat on retirement or as a sabbatical. Short courses are popular with employers who wish to develop their staff’s skills in specific areas in a short space of time.
