I'm mainly interested in demonstrating that it's possible to design and build small boats very quickly and cheaply from plywood panels, without sacrificing performance or appearance, or indeed longevity. Inspiration comes principally from the American tradition of flat-bottomed skiffs and scows, for sailing, rowing, or outboard power, and has resulted in a small range of dayboats; most are intended to sail, under a variety of simple and unstressed rigs. These are now available as sets of plans for amateur (or professional) construction - easier to build from scratch than most kits, they provide an unchallenging project for the home builder and an economical entry into boating for the beginner.
